General Motors confirms for the next October the throwing of the vehicle most waited in the region Mercosur: Chevrolet Agile, a completely new new model who stands out for his design, interior comfort and versatility.
Jaime Ardila, president of GM Mercosur, emphasizes that “Chevrolet Agile, one of the principal throwings of Chevrolet and of the market in 2009, demonstrates our confidence in the preference of the public and in the potential of our region”.
For his part, Edgar Lourencon, president of GM Argentina made sure that the Agile “not only demonstrates the aptitude of Chevrolet to develop vehicles with modern design and world quality, but it ratifies the fortitude and the integration of our company to offer the best products to our clients.
Revealing some details of the line of the Agile, Carlos Barba, general manager of Design of GM Mercosur, emphasizes: "It is a vehicle that goes beyond a traditional hatchback. Our task was to design a vehicle for the clients of the region, who are very demanding consumers. An innovative design is fundamental, as well as the internal space and a crossover aspect, or, a vehicle that versatility 'perspires' and that it manages to attract to client's different profiles, from the urban one up to the surfista or that client who likes to enjoy the field”.

The model comes to complement the line Chevrolet, which is the most finished of the market and which at present is formed by the models Spark, Corsican Classic, Corsican, Aveo, Astra, Vectra (hatchback) GT, Vectra sedates, the monovolumes Meriva and Zafira, SUVs Blazer and Captiva, the pick up S10 and the Corvette.
Investment in march
Chevrolet Agile – the first model of the Living family – was completely developed in the Center of Development of Vehicles of GM Mercosur, located in San Pablo, Brazil. This investment has meant, between other actions, the construction of a new building of 5000 square meters welding, the acquisition of new counterfoils for the pattern of parts and pieces; the incorporation of 59 robots of last technology that will concentrate his task fundamentally on the welding points considered ergonomic anti, and in those points of the bodywork that turn out to be critical for the safety of the passenger; as well as the achievement of more than 6,500 hours of training to the operators of the new line of production of the Self-propelled Complex of Chevrolet in Argentina.
At present, there are developing the final testings of the new model for which the company is applying the world processes of ratification, identical to the used ones in the development of the global architectures of Chevrolet. The same ones take place in laboratories and in field. There are 150 units of Chevrolet Agile that are rolling more than 1 million kilometers of tests, between finished and partially mounted vehicles, to validate components, transport safety, durability, bodywork, brakes, acoustics and vibration. Finally, it is important to emphasize that 9000 pieces were submitted to more than 3000 tests for certification following global criteria and, on the subject of safety, 20 vehicles will spend for diverse laboratory impact tests, between other already current testings.
